Pasta Ragazza: Quinoa Stuffed Peppers x Da Terra Cucina

Since Alec is studying for the bar and I’m training for a half marathon, we like to cook healthy meals during the week and “splurge” on the weekend. These stuffed bell peppers are a tasty way of getting the protein and vegetables we need without sacrificing flavor. On our way back from Harley Farms in Pescadero, we picked up some fresh vegetables at a little farm stand perfect for some stuffed peppers. For this recipe, I used my favorite Da Terra Cucina non-stick pan. The ingredients cook incredibly evenly and the ceramic, non-stick technology makes cleanup a breeze!

Cooking with Ruthie: Chicken and Yukon Gold Skillet

Chicken and Yukon Gold Skillet is a savory delightful dish. I love how this is an all in one dish. Protein, healthy fats, veggies/fruits, and more! Chicken and Yukon Gold Skillet has my daughter’s favorite veggies in it!! Baby tomatoes (as she would say) and avocado! Yes, yes, I know tomatoes are really a fruit.

Dancing With Fireflies: Buyer Beware. (AKA Wish I had stuck with my trusty DaTerra Pan)

Cookware that doesn’t stick: Every morning I make the same thing for breakfast. 2 lightly fried eggs and gluten-free waffles. So while my routine is the same, my pans rotate. For many years I was a fan of my cast iron pans. I still love them. But more for the sentimental reasons of cooking like my Grandmother and less for their superior slipperiness when it came to making eggs.
However last year I discovered the joys of ceramic cooking. Thanks to the people at DaTerra Cucina, I discovered smooth, slippery cooking with little fats added to my food.
I LOVE my frying pan, and I used it daily. So when I went to the show this weekend and found another beautiful frying pan that promised the same surface in red, I was delighted.

Most people prefer a non-stick frying pan, and the two choices are to go with a Teflon coating or a ceramic coating. Ceramic is considered the safer option, which is probably why you want it!

The Perishable Cook: Ropa Vieja: Cuba Here I Come!

I will be joining my brother Peter and my sister-in-law Vicki on a 10 day trip to Cuba at the end of the month. To get in the mood, I decided to make Ropa Vieja, the national dish of Cuba. Its literal translation is Old Clothes, as the finished dish of long-braised and shredded beef and sliced peppers looks like a tangle of old clothes. It’s a fabulous dish, which I order whenever I go to a Cuban restaurant.

Mom Does Reviews: Vesuvio Frying Pan Makes Cooking Dinner A Breeze

I am a wannabe gourmet chef trapped in a “Debbie Drive Thru” body.  I have elaborate plans to cook healthy, mouth watering, Pinterest worthy dishes… my execution of those plans is rather elusive most days.  Life happens and the menu gets tossed by the wayside.  One thing I have found in creating meals that the fam will enjoy is this; when it comes to pots & pans – they can make or break the dish.  It took me a long time to realize that quality matters when in the kitchen!  Vesuvio knows this and delivers on the quality to help me look like a great cook!
