There’s something special about a cookie that’s baked twice. Biscotti have that perfect balance of tender bite and satisfying crunch, and this Chocolate Chip Biscotti recipe brings all the comfort of home baking together with simple ingredients and straightforward steps.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven.
    Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Combine the dry ingredients
    In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.

  3. Mix the wet ingredients
    In a large bowl (or in a stand mixer), cream together the brown sugar with the softened butter.
    Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix at medium speed until smooth.

  4. Bring the dough together
    Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix on medium speed until just combined.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips
    Using a DaTerra Cucina wooden spoon or spatula, mix in the mini chocolate chips to incorporate them throughout the batter.

  6. Shape the logs
    Form two logs on your DaTerra Cucina Cookie Sheet – each should be about 12–13" long and 3" in width.
    Use your hands to gently press down on the dough.

  7. First bake
    Bake for 20–25 minutes, until very lightly golden on top.
    Turn oven temperature down to 300°F.

  8. Slice the biscotti
    Allow the baked logs to cool for 10 minutes before using a knife to cut into 1.5" slices.

  9. Second bake
    Place the slices back on the DaTerra Cucina Cookie Sheet and bake for an additional 10 minutes per side (or more if you like extra crunchy biscotti).

Once your biscotti have had their second bake, all that’s left to do is brew your favorite drink, share, and enjoy.
