Product Features

What generation are DaTerra Cucina pans?

Currently, DaTerra Cucina uses our proprietary 7th generation Solution Gel (Sol-Gel) based PFAS-free ceramic nonstick coating. All pans use this 7th generation with the except of the 13” wok and the 13” frying pan which are still completing the transition.

Are DaTerra Cucina pans induction compatible?

Currently, all non-bakeware pans have been upgraded to induction-compatible except for the 13" frying pans and woks, which will be launched in 2026. See the current list here.

Can I use DaTerra Cucina cookware on a glass stovetop?

Yes, DaTerra Cucina cookware can be used on all stovetops, including gas, glass, electric, and induction (with the induction exception of the 13" frying pan coming in 2026.)

Are DaTerra Cucina pans dishwasher safe?

While DaTerra Cucina pans are technically dishwasher safe with liquid dishwasher detergent, we recommend handwashing to extend the life of nonstick ceramic.

Can DaTerra Cucina cookware go in the oven?

Yes! Every cookware piece with silicone stay-cool handles can go in the oven up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The bakeware items can handle temperatures up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit and even broiling!

Are the handles heat resistant?

Yes, during stovetop use, DaTerra Cucina’s stay-cool silicone helps keep the handles at a comfortable temperature for moving or pan flipping. As always, use caution when handling anything from a hot stove. (This isn’t the case for pan handles directly from the oven as they will be oven-temperature.)

Are DaTerra pans’ lids and handles oven-safe?

Yes, the lids and handles are oven-safe to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Where is DaTerra Cucina cookware made?

All DaTerra Cucina cookware and bakeware products are made in Italy, about 100 miles from Florence.

Safety & Materials

What makes DaTerra Cucina cookware different from Teflon pans?

DaTerra Cucina’s proprietary nonstick ceramic was developed as a healthier alternative to PFAS-based Teflon coating which is made with organic fluorine chemicals that have proven health issues. Our Sol-Gel-based inorganic ceramic nonstick coating offers a natural nonstick glass-like ceramic coating without toxic PFAS chemicals.

Do DaTerra Cucina pans contain PFAS, PFOA, PTFE, lead, or cadmium?

No, DaTerra Cucina contains no PFAS-compounds which include all the PFOA, PTFE, and related fluoropolymer-based chemicals. Additionally, DaTerra Cucina non-stick coating is water based and contains no BPA, lead, cadmium, nickel and other heavy metals.

Are DaTerra Cucina pans eco-friendly?

DaTerra Cucina’s manufacturing process and ceramic coating uses less energy than Teflon based manufacturing, reducing CO2 emissions and environmental pollution. Additionally, DaTerra Cucina pans are built with multiple reinforced layers, including mineral particles, for an ultra-hard and scratch-resistant surface, contributing to their longevity and reducing the frequency of replacement.

Do DaTerra Cucina pans really stay nonstick?

While there is no official regulated definition of nonstick, DaTerra Cucina is naturally nonstick due to the ceramic Sol-Gel coating. While the nonstick properties do not equate to PFAS-based Teflon, the natural and durable nonstick properties of DaTerra Cucina’s ceramic last for many years under proper home use. We have seen many of our 5th generation pans still going strong almost ten years later!

In lab durability tests, our current 7th generation coating shows a 105% improvement in nonstick durability over the previous 5th generation version. This upgrade also provides an over 60% improvement in abrasion resistance as well as an improved resistance to staining and corrosion.

Care & Use

What utensils should I use with DaTerra Cucina cookware?

Use only wooden, silicone, nylon, or plastic utensils. Avoid any metal or sharp utensils, knives, or whisks to prevent damaging the ceramic coating.

How should I season or care for my DaTerra Cucina pan?

There is no seasoning required. Simply make sure to handwash your new pan to get started and start cooking with lower heat as DaTerra Cucina’s thick base and dark coloring offer superior heat conductivity.

How do I clean burnt or stuck-on food from my pan?

If food does get stuck, remember to first try to deglaze the pan while it’s still hot. Soaking the pan after use can also help. If, after washing well with a good grease cutting dishwashing soap and a non-scratch sponge, you can still see residue, see our Care and Cleaning page for advance cleaning methods.

What temperatures are safe for cooking with DaTerra Cucina pans?

Every cookware piece with silicone stay-cool handles can go in the oven up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The bakeware items can handle temperatures up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit - and even broiling!

Do I need to use oil or butter when cooking with DaTerra Cucina pans?

Usually, we recommend using a small amount of oil or butter. This will help keep proteins and carbohydrates from adhering to the pan (as well as taste better. :D) Using a lower heat setting and keeping the food moving will also reduce sticking issues.

How long does DaTerra Cucina cookware last?

The multi-layer ceramic coating and the thick 3.7 mm base ensure superior durability that will last for many years.

Will DaTerra Cucina pans scratch or chip easily?

Avoid scratches or chips by using only wooden, silicone, nylon, or plastic utensils, or stacking pans without pan protectors between pans. Do not use metal or sharp utensils, knives, or whisks to prevent damaging the ceramic coating.
